Recommended Resources

"Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good." --1Pet. 2:2-3

Christians today must use great discernment regarding what we read and listen too. Some of the most popular books and other resources are completely unreliable and unbiblical.  For this reason, we recommend the following resources as biblically sound and useful for Christian growth. If you have questions regarding any resource, listed or not, please contact us for advice.

Who Are You To Judge?—Erwin Lutzer Today it seems most anything goes and we are told not to judge. But does the Bible command us to make certain judgments? This book cuts directly to the heart of making sound biblical judgments.

The Passion of Jesus Christ—John Piper Why did Jesus die? Who killed Jesus? Piper outlines from the New Testament, 50 reasons Jesus came to die. If you saw the movie The Passion of The Christ you must read this book.

Can God Bless America?—John MacArthur We want God’s blessing but not God. Americans have systematically pushed Him out of their lives—rejecting biblical morality, ignoring His Word, and looking to the entertainment industry as the new oracle. Abortion, homosexuality, drug abuse, divorce, and pornography are rampant. Even the church often imitates the world’s fashions at the expense of biblical truth. In this book MacArthur challenges God’s people to lead the way in pursuing His blessing on our nation.

I Long for You O God—Michael Yousseff All of us struggle with a lack of contentment—comparing our circumstances with the lives of others and feeling like we’ve been shortchanged. We tire of life’s difficulties and long to escape, but nothing we do seems to help. Instead, we only feel more trapped. This 31-day daily guide points the way to the peace and contentment that God desires for you.

Fool’s Gold—John MacArthur In an age of open-mindedness, many believers accept too much with too little discernment, resulting in great confusion and compromise. But God’s Word makes it clear that not everything that glitters is gold. False teaching is at every turn, and the temptation to embrace it is great. As God’s people we are called to sift through the overwhelming number of traditions and trends and use the truth of Scripture to determine which are the true treasures—and which are “fool’s gold.”

John MacArthur

Anniston-Gadsden, AL

Morning and Evening—Charles Spurgeon A classic devotional with deep insight into the Word of God by the “Prince of Preachers.” One page for morning and one for evening each day of the year. Sure to become your favorite.

My Utmost For His Highest—Oswald Chambers This most enduring best seller is a distinctive classic from one of the church’s best loved authors. It is filled with rich, spiritual insights and life-changing perspectives.

Christ Among Other Gods—Erwin Lutzer A thorough comparison of the biblical Jesus and the false gods of other religions. This book will help solidly ground you in your faith in this age of tolerance. It will aid in quickly recognizing the serious flaws in anything other than Biblical Christianity. Lutzer demonstrates the utter exclusiveness and incompatibility of Biblical Christianity with all other religions.

Seeking Him: Experiencing the Joy of Personal Revival—Nancy Leigh DeMoss & Tim Grissom - I rarely recommend study courses because they are so often merely man trying to do what only the Holy Spirit can do. But this one is different. It cuts to the heart of our desperate need for revival. Seeking Him is a 12-week course that identifies what is hindering genuine revival. This is the best material I’ve seen for an individual, small group, or church to aid in getting real with God. If you see that we are in desperate need of revival, please prayerfully consider doing this study, and tell others. If you would like more information, please click the link below or the book icon above. From there you may order or download a sample brochure of the Seeking Him course. "Break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you." Hosea 10:12b Let us seek the Lord together until He comes.

Why Government Can't Save you--John MacArthur illustrates through Scripture that, regardless of the numerous immoral, unjust, and ungodly failures of secular government, believers are to pray and seek to influence the world for Christ by godly, selfless, and peaceful living under that authority, not by protests against the government or by acts of civil disobedience.

God Is the Gospel—John Piper "Gospel" means good news—but what makes the good news good? What is the goal of the gospel, without which it is no longer good? It is that Christ’s death brings sinners to God! Were it to bring us anywhere else we would be left hopeless. But the gospel is that God gives us himself—Christ died to give us Christ—, and this self-giving is his highest mercy to us and the best news for us! The most profound, most exceedingly gracious, final and decisive good of the good news is Christ himself as the glorious image of God revealed for our endless satisfaction.
